Youth Concerts

Youth Concerts have long been a favorite way to introduce children to the exhilarating experience of attending a live orchestral performance. The Charlottesville and University Symphony Orchestra's first Youth Concerts were presented in 1977. The project always proves popular with students and has enthusiastic support and assistance from local music teachers. Because of the continuing support of area foundations, businesses and individual contributors, we can ensure that future generations experience our Youth Concerts and the thrill of symphonic music.

In 2008, the orchestra will present this popular annual event, especially designed for young students, on October 10 at 10:00 and 11:30am. This year's performance, Score One for the Orchestra, explores the relationships between playing on a football team and playing in an orchestra. The skills required for both will be the focus of Matt Blundin, former professional American football quarterback and narrator for this concert.
