Teacher’s Link

We are very pleased to offer a variety of quality music programs to local school children. If you would like to have a musician visit your school and work with your students, please follow the links to the right labeled "Request a Preludes Visit." Once the musician has come to your school, we request that you fill out the form labeled "Preludes Evaluation." Your feedback is very valuable and will help us better serve you in the future. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with your students. It allows us to contribute in unique ways to building future audiences and inspiring future musicians, and it enhances the education of those who are already studying an instrument.

Read a short article about our Preludes program and its coordinator, Elizabeth Roberts, to see how students can be inspired by music in the classroom.

Discoveroo:  Making Musical Sounds

The Charlottesville Symphony Society was pleased to collaborate with the Virginia Discovery Museum at its annual "Discoveroo" event on September 8th, 2013 at the nTelos Pavilion. Kids of all ages explored the flute, clarinet, violin and viola, tried the actual instruments, and experimented with every day items to learn more about how these instruments produce sound.  Professional musicians from the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra were on hand to demonstrate the instruments and guide young musical explorers.
